PATRIOTIC COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
October 21, 2009
Chairperson Margaret Byrnes called the regular meeting of the Patriotic Commission to order at 7:15 p.m. in the 2nd floor conference room of the Town Hall, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
PRESENT: Margaret Byrnes, Paul Barry, Patricia Begley, Richard Begley, Mike Brinius, Victoria Brinius, Linda Carrasquillo, Charles Clarke, Bernard Corona, Vincent Parys.
ABSENT:
EXCUSED: Albert Doak, Susan Tukey, Melodie Wilson.
ALSO PRESENT: Robin Parys, Clerk.
OPPORTUNITY FOR CITIZENS/RESIDENTS TO SPEAK:
None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Commissioner Mike Brinius made a motion to accept the minutes of the September 16, 2009 meeting. Commissioner Charles Clarke 2nd.
MOTION:
Motion passed.
CORRESPONDENCE: None.
BILLS: Motion made by Commissioner Charles Clarke to pay the clerk for the October 21st meeting and printing supplies. 2nd by Commissioner Mike Brinius. Motion passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Commission budget is $13,493.00
OLD BUSINESS: Veteran’s Day, Sunday, November 8, 2009. Clerk to send out notices to newspapers and Channel 5 this week asking for volunteers to assist with the placement of the cemetery flags on November 7.
Commissioner Charles Clarke will research the size and verbiage for the plaque for Richard L. Ford (Desert Storm). Commissioner Paul Barry made a motion to commission the plaque. 2nd by Commissioner Mike Brinius.
Commissioner Paul Barry will check the wording for Iraq and Afghanistan plaques.
NEW BUSINESS: 2009 Holiday Fest, December 4,5,6,7. Chairperson M. Byrnes will have the sign up sheets and locations available at next months meeting.
Chairperson Margaret Byrnes will check with Jack Martin regarding a vendor for purchasing 2010 flags (54 gross).
Motion was made by Commissioner Patricia Begley to table the purchase of the flags until a vendor is approved. 2nd by Commissioner Charles Clarke. Motion passed.

Commissioner Vincent Parys made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Commissioner Victoria Brinius seconded. Meeting adjourned at 8:25p.m.
